. The Spaniard produced a thrilling final round 66 to finish second behind runaway winner Ross Fisher at the European Open on Sunday. And in the absence of the injured Tiger Woods, Garcia, who blew two chances to lift the famous Claret Jug at Carnoustie last year - losing to Padraig Harrington in a play-off - is looking to make amends. Garcia's round at the London Club on Sunday included just 21 putts, in very tricky conditions. And he said: "Now I know what Tiger feels 90 per cent of the time on the greens - it's a great feeling.

"I'm looking forward to The Open. There are still things I need to keep improving, but there are good positive things and overall I'm very happy. I don't expect to putt like this every single round. I would love to - it would be a very easy game - but the only thing you can do is believe in what you do." Second place in the European Open lifted the Spanish star from fifth to second in the race to make Nick Faldo's Ryder Cup team for the clash at Valhalla in September. And he added: "Obviously I came here trying to win, but my second goal was to get as many Cup points and that's helped a lot." Meanwhile, reigning Open champion Harrington has backed Fisher for stardom after his sensational seven-shot winning stroll at the London Club. Harrington finished the tournament in wet and windy conditions on two-under par - good enough forAa joint 17th but a massive 18 strokes behind the winner. And of Fisher's performance he said: "I don't think anybody out here would be surprised. He's well capable of doing this and more regularly."
