NSW: Jury finds two men guilty of murdering rival gang members
SYDNEY, April 9 AAP - Two men were today found guilty of the execution-style murdersof three rival motorcycle gang members at an inner Sydney nightclub.
Bruce Malcolm Harrison, 42, and Constantine Georgiou, 36, were convicted of murderingBandidos club president Michael Kulakowski and bikers Sasha Milenkovic and Rick Destoopin the basement of the Blackmarket Cafe in November 1997.
The NSW Supreme Court jury deliberated for four days before delivering the verdict.
It was the third time the former Rebels gang members had stood trial for the murders.
They were first found guilty of the killings in 1999 and sentenced to a maximum 33 years jail.
But the NSW Supreme Court of Appeal quashed the convictions in 2001 after finding thetrial judge's directions to the jury relating to joint criminal enterprise were inadequate.
A second trial was then aborted because of prejudicial media reports.
During the latest trial, which started in February, the court heard the victims hadgone to the club's basement to meet Georgiou and Harrison to discuss control of the nightclubdoor and lucrative earnings from the premises.
The three Bandidos members were shot dead at point-blank range, the court heard.
Harrison and Georgiou will reappear in the NSW Supreme Court on June 6 to set a datefor sentencing.
