SA: Holden says market leadership still a strong challenge

ADELAIDE, Feb 7 AAP - Local producer Holden believes retaining its title as the topselling car company in Australia in 2002 will be a substantial challenge despite its strongstart to the new year.

The company was yesterday named market leader for January, its 13,280 units puttingit easily ahead of Toyota on 10,828 and Ford on 7,176.

More importantly Holden said eight of its carlines achieved their best-ever Januarysales and overall demand for it products was up 41 per cent compared to January 2001.
